Ave verum, Op. 15 – Louis Vierne | Swell Vox

Vierne’s Ave verum dates from 1899, written whilst he was Organist of Notre-Dame de Paris, during the latter part of his first great creative period (he was working on his Messe Solennelle Op. 16 at the same time). This is a completely new work for me and for the Swell Vox lads. I’m really proud of them for working on a piece of choral music that is full of accidentals and chromaticism, plus having to tackle Latin (which is very new to some of them). I hope you enjoy our production of Vierne’s setting of Ave verum for solo Tenor.
