O quam tristis (Stabat Mater) – Giovanni Battista Pergolesi | Swell Vox

Last week you would have heard David and Tony perform the opening movement to Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater (link below). In this video, we hear Andrew and Tony perform the 3rd movement, “O quam tristis”. We have yet to decide the soloist for the 2nd movement, hence skipping to this movement! The Stabat Mater is a 13th century hymn to Mary depicting her suffering as Jesus Christ’s mother during his crucifixion. As we approach the season of Lent, the Swell Vox crew are exploring Lenten and Passiontide repertoire, and hopefully the entire Pergolesi Stabat Mater.
