O Sanctissima – Dianne Bish

“O Sanctissima” is a traditional Catholic hymn often attributed to Sicilian mariners and is sometimes called “The Sicilian Mariners’ Hymn.” The melody and lyrics, which praise the Virgin Mary, have been embraced by many over the centuries for their emotional resonance and spiritual depth. Its simple, yet profound text and melody are typically sung during Marian celebrations. This arrangement is by Dianne Bish (1941-), an American organist, composer, and conductor known for her virtuosic performances and contributions to church and concert organ music. I recorded this on the Armley Schulze sample set by Lavender Audio using the Hauptwerk VPO software.
