STANLEY’S FORGOTTEN MOVEMENT FROM THE “TRUMPET VOLUNTARY” SUITE Op. 6, No. 5

I have to thank @DCTOnline for introducing me to this beautiful ‘Moderato’ movement from John Stanley’s suite Op. 6, No. 5 which also contains the famous Trumpet Voluntary in D major. This arrangement is by Henry Coleman. One of the most striking features of this movement is the masterful use of counterpoint. The different voices and melodies intertwine seamlessly, creating a sense of harmony and balance. Stanley’s skill in 18th century English composition is shown in his dynamic contrasts, with moments of quiet contemplation alternating with sections of powerful, sweeping music. I recorded this on the Armley Schulze sample set using Hauptwerk by Lavender Audio.
